Early Thanksgiving!

Happy (early) Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a fun time of year. It's a time where family and friends all come together. The biggest part of Thanksgiving is the food that is cooked. It is important to remember to limit yourself to what is reasonable. Remember your portion sizes when putting food on your plate. This will help you feel better and not have that crash after eating. My favorite part of the meal is the mashed potatoes and the rolls. What is your favorite part of the meal? How do you think limiting your food can help you?

Healthy Diets - What does it look like for you?

A healthy diet is very important to ever single person. Our bodies need fuel for the day and the food we eat gives us this energy. I like to eat a variety of foods daily to make sure I get my nutrients for the day. I try to eat a food from each major food group every day. My favorite meal is steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and maybe a bun. This meal only covers grains, vegetables, and proteins but that is okay for just one meal. Maybe for lunch I would have a peanut butter bagel with an apple and a glass of milk. Just like that I have consumed nutrient dense food in every food category. What is your favorite meal? How do you feel about having well balanced meals?

What is your favorite way to stay active?

What is your favorite way to stay active?  In a world where it seems physical activity is being pushed to the side, we need to prioritize being active more often. Physical activity has so many benefits beyond just losing weight. It helps your heart, lungs, whole body, mood, and so much more. So my question today is this, do you have a specific way or favorite way you stay active throughout the week? I personally enjoy going to the gym during the week, snowboarding when I can, and playing softball during the summer months. There are many ways to be active, so let's talk about a few!

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome! I would like to welcome you to my blog! My name is Evan Lutz and I am a School Wellness major at Slippery Rock University. This is a blog where we will discuss healthy life styles such as stress management, sleeping, being active and other subjects. I would like to start this first blog post off with a question where we discuss what we think. I want to know, what do you think a healthy life would look like?  I personally view a healthy life as someone who is active regularly. I don't necessarily mean you work out vigorously every day. It can be as simple as taking time to walk for 30 minutes or go for a jog. I also think another important aspect of a healthy life is a healthy diet. Having a healthy diet on top of being physically active will lower your risk for so many diseases and make you feel better overall.  So, what do you think a healthy lifestyle looks like?
